About Us

Cooperative Development Foundation, popularly known as Sahavikasa, was formed in 1975 when a group of Individuals came together and started working for the development of cooperatives. They felt that cooperative was one of the good instruments to bring about comprehensive development in rural areas. It was initially known as Samakhya.

Legal Status

  • Sahavikasa is deemed to have been registered as a society under `Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act of 2001`. The registration number is 547 of 1985.

  • Sahavikasa is registered with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs under the `Foreign Contributions Regulation Act of 1976`. The registration number is 010 2301 087.

  • Sahavikasa is granted an exemption under `Sections 12A and 80G` of the Commissioner of Income Tax, 1961. The number of the relevant proceedings of the Commissioner of Income Tax is AAATC2508HE20211/2022-27 dated 07 Apr 2022 .

Mission

  • The aim of Sahavikasa is to promote an environment in which cooperatives flourish as decentralized, democratic, self-help, and mutual-aid organizations effectively harnessing and fostering local resources in consonance with the universally accepted Principles of Cooperation.

Activities

The activities of Sahavikasa, in order of priority, are:

    • Assisting rural women and men in the areas around Hanamakonda City in Telangana, in forming and developing self-reliant cooperatives (swa-Kru-shi cooperatives) under the Andhra Pradesh Mutually Aided Cooperative Societies Act of 1995 (Macs Act);
    • Disseminating the contents and implications of the Macs Act, throughout Telangana;
    • Disseminating the contents and implications of parallel and liberal cooperative law in the states where such a law has already been enacted

Support Activities

  • Cooperative Audit Services: Primary cooperatives and their associations that are associated with Sahavikasa use the audit service.
  • Member education & management training: Sahavikasa has a training center in Hanamakonda City, which is used extensively by cooperators from its field work area and to some extent by others across the country.
  • Cooperative Revolving Fund (CRF): The CRF is exclusively for the use of cooperatives within the field work area of Sahavikasa.
