A Cooperative is an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise.

The aim of Sahavikasa is promote an environment in which cooperatives flourish as decetralised, democratic, self-help and mutual-aid organisations effectively harnessing and fostering local resources in consonance with the universally accepted principles of cooperation.
